A few weeks ago we were honoured to sit amongst fellow sea-loving maidens and attend The LANE’s Oceanic watercolour calligraphy workshop & winter lunch by the sea.
We arrived to a warm welcome and a cocktail to start, then began the workshop under the teachings of the very talented calligrapher & artist, Cass Deller.
She presented a ‘how-to’ on watercolour techniques as we attempted to master the ins and outs of calligraphy with our half-shell pallets full of ultramarine puddles and the beautiful blue inky mess creeping across the table.
We capped the workshop off with each of us putting into watercolour script a few words that came to us while being pushed creatively in such a stunning seaside setting, all the while unleashing many a hidden artist within.
After we retired our brushes we were taken through a delicious 6 course menu created by Byron Bay based Anise Catering, showcasing local produce with a menu inspired by the textures of the sea, served on the handcrafted ceramics of Marloe Morgan and all accompanied with cocktails and champagne to-boot.
What a fun day we had mingling with some gorgeous new gal pals, laughing & pushing our creative limits! A big thanks to the lovely girls at The LANE for allowing us to be apart of such a wonderful event!
